The Faculty of Science at Wits University hosted its inaugural Innovation Event on 29 October — a day dedicated to sparking creativity, entrepreneurship, and practical collaboration between academia and industry.

With more than 150 delegates in attendance, including researchers, academics, postgraduate students and industry partners, the event delivered a full programme of insightful presentations and meaningful engagement. Keynotes from Prof Nithaya Chetty, Prof Mandeep Kaur, and Mr Letlotlo Phohole set a compelling tone, emphasising bold thinking and translating research into real-world impact.

Wits Enterprise was proud to contribute to the organising committee through marketing support, industry engagement, and session facilitation. Our Commercialisation and Venture Support team, led by Thembela Ntlemeza, highlighted how our partnership with the Wits Innovation Centre is fast-tracking spin-off creation and strengthening the University’s growing innovation ecosystem.

Through high-impact research showcases, inspiring student-led projects and thought-provoking panels with industry leaders, the event underscored Wits University’s ambition and capability as a global innovation leader.
